KALEIDOSCOPE is a mental health talk programme aimed at promoting mental health awareness among students.

Hosted by Carrie Bermingham it is aired every Friday at 5pm on www.dcufm.com.

This week the show concentrated on eating disorders, with interviews from Ms Helena Ahern, head of DCU’s Counseling and Personal Development Service who told us abut eating disorders, some of their causes and problems in relation to food that can arise on campus.

Also joining us was Teresa Moorhead, Director of Clinical Services at Lois Bridges, a dedicated residential care facility for the treatment of eating disorders.

KALEIDOSCOPE is a mental health talk programme aimed at promoting mental health awareness among students.

Hosted by Carrie Bermingham it is aired every Friday at 5pm on www.dcufm.com each show concentrates on different topics in regard to mental illnesses, such as eating disorders, depression, self harm and many more.

The first show of Kaleidoscope was aired during mental health week and contains an overview of anxiety, help available and services for students of DCU.

Joining us was Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry Allison Newman who gave information on anxiety as well as causes and treatments.

Also joining us was a volunteer from confidential phone service Niteline, a support number for students to call from universities UCD, RCSI, NCAD, NUI Maynooth, DCU and their affiliate colleges. Phone lines are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00pm to 2:30am.

Also with us was the lovely Ms Helena Ahern, head of Counseling and Personal Development Service who filled us in on relaxation techniques and much more!
